What ages can participate in Chesterton Pop Warner Football and Cheer?
Chesterton Pop Warner ages range from 5-14 years old as of August 1st of the current season.

When does the Football and CheerSid Season begin?
The season begins on August 1st.  Regular season games begin the end of August and run for approximately 10 consecutive weeks.  Tackle Football teams and Cheer squads that qualify for bowl games, regional championships or cheer competitions may be active through early December if they reach the National Championship level.

Before practice starts on August 1st, how will I know what's going on and what I have to do next?
Once participants have been placed on a team or squad, your Head Coach will reach out with helpful information regarding the team and parent meeting, practice schedules and location, team rules, goals, coaching philosophy, procedures for handling any issues or concerns you may have, and upcoming events.  Any missing documents will also be collected at this time.  We must have all documents - birth certificate, player contract, physical, and full report card with all four quarters and comments, before August 1st, or your child will not be able to participate in practice until your head coach has all completed documents.

Chesterton Pop Warner wants you to have the most current information possible.  Please continue to check our website,
We are also on Facebook!

How often are practices and games?  What is the time commitment per week?
The first two weeks of practice are called "Conditioning Weeks".  These practices will most likely consist of practice 5 times both weeks for 2.5 hours each practice.  after the conditioning period, it will be up to each individual coach to set their practice schedule.  Usually the older football teams will continue to practice 4-5 times per week until Labor Day, and then will drop down to 3 practices per week.  Over the past few seasons, most games are scheduled on Sundays at various times and locations throughout Northern Indiana.  Please note that Chesterton Pop Warner has NO impact on schedules of games, times, days, or events.  Northern Indiana Pop Warner Little Scholars, (NIPWLS), makes the schedule for the entire region.

I have an issue with a participant, spectator, parent, coach, or board member.  What should I do?
The Chesterton Pop Warner Association Board Directors are responsible for the smooth operation of the Association throughout the year.  Board of Directors are responsible for literally hundreds of children and parents during the season.  Directors are flooded every season with emails and phone calls from parents and coaches with questions, concerns, issues, and general questions relating to our Association.  In order to reduce the stress on the Directors that make this league possible, we have a very strict procedure on dealing with complaints and issues.  Please keep in mind that EVERYONE is a volunteer with our Association, and while every issue is important to us, there might be other commitments that take initial priority.  All complaints brought before The Board of Directors will be answered as quickly as possible.  If the chain of command is not followed, the complaint will be rejected and you will be asked to resolve your issue to prior chain before proceeding.

If there is a question or complaint against a player, parent, member of the coaching staff, an official, a member of the Board, or The Board of Directors, the complaint must be filed with the appropriate member in the "Chain of Command".  Always try to resolve the issue within at one level before proceeding up the Chain of Command.

1st Chain of Command - Head Coach, Team Parent, or Team Assistants
Almost 90% of issues can be resolved by simply talking to your coaching staff.

2nd Chain of Command - Football Commissioner or Cheer Director
If you do not feel your grievance has been resolved by the coaching staff, then you can approach the Chesterton Pop Warner Board of Directors via the Football Commissioner for issues involving football or coaching issues, or the Cheer Director for issues involving any cheerleaders issues, or for Cheer coaching issues.

If neither member is available, (or the complaint is against them), you may approach our Business Manager or Treasurer for further information.

3rd Chain of Command - President of Chesterton Pop Warner and The Vice President via formal written grievance.
